Postcard and Greeting Card Exhibit
Circa 1907 - 1980's 

Maidstone is pleased to launch a new exhibit of early postcards and greeting cards for
all occasions.  See the changes through the years in textures, colours, subject matter
and social changes all through the mail.  Different from today's social media. 

Special thanks to Mr Wayne Bristow for donating hundreds of postcards and greeting cards.

Maidstone Museum will be partnering once again with Parks Canada Fort Malden to hold
it's 13th annual War of 1812 Encampment.  This year the event will be taking place at Fort 
Malden in Amherstburg.  This will allow us to present a bigger event with more activities for
communities of Essex County.
Period Encampments, Suttler's row, Speakers, Period Puppet Show, Cooking Demonstrations, 
Historic Weapons Demonstrations, Skirmishes, music, food and much, much more.

Summer Student Job Opportunities

Maidstone and Area Historical is looking for 2 summer position at Maidstone Museum starting May 27, 2019.  Jobs are for 9 weeks, 30 hours per week at $14 per hour.  Resumes can be mailed to Maidstone Museum 1093 Puce Rd. RR# 3 Essex, Ontario N8M 2X7.  Resumes must be received by May 20, 2017.

Curator's Assistant
*Assist in archiving, and display work
*Assist in the research and implementing into Youth Programming
*Assist in Interpretive Tours
*Assist in events and fundraisers
*Assist in light maintenance such as dusting, vacuuming etc. 

Horticultural/Landscape Interupative Guide
*Assist with watering, weeding and planting of Native Heritage gardens
*Assist in the creation of new border around existing garden 
*Assist in improvements to existing gardens and new garden
*Assist in interruptive tours of gardens and grounds.
*Assist in events and fundraisers
*Assist in light maintenance in museum
